My name is Allyssa Andersen and I am the District Administrator for Traver School. I have been at Traver my whole career, starting in 2000 as the Spanish teacher. Over the years, this small school has allowed me to morph from teacher to Technology Director, to Principal, and finally to where I am today. It has been an incredible experience!
I grew up around here on a farm near the Walworth-Rock County line. I am the second oldest of five children. My childhood was spent running in and out of the pasture, barn, and hay shed. I rode on Grandpa's tractor every chance I had and my first best friend was my great-grandma. My mom was (and still is) always super crafty and a born maker. (I inherited that love as well. Give me a sewing machine or a die-cutting machine and I'm totally happy!) We moved off the farm when my dad decided to become an entrepreneur. Well, we joke that he's an "entre-manure" because he and my brothers run a slurry handling business! I married my wonderful husband in 2000. Jeremy is an administrator as well and an all-around fantastic human being. I graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2000 with a French and Spanish education degree. I thought I would spend my whole career in the classroom, but then technology took ahold of me and I could not let go. I earned my Master's in Educational Technology in 2009. I become the Technology Director in 2012 and split my time between teaching technology and maintaining Traver's 1:1 devices. And then, I got this wild idea to get my principal's license and earned that in June 2016. I became the principal at Traver in 2017, went back to school again to get my superintendent's license in 2018, and became the administrator for the district that same year. Somewhere in there, we had some kids. Molly was born in 2007 and our triplets, Carter, Avery, and Callie, were born in 2011. They all come to Traver with me. It is AWESOME to have my kids at my school! Traver is my home. Every child is unique and known to me. Watching a child grow for 10 years is one of the most precious experiences a person can have. I will always strive to do my best for kids and staff because they are a second family to me. As Dr. Mark Pienkos, our former interim superintendent, would say, "Traver is a gem of a school!" |
