Hola! My name is Chris D’Amico, but you can call me Señora. My family and I have been living in East Troy for 23 years. I have two sons; one is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota (yes, he’s a Gopher), and my other son is a sophomore at UW-Madison. So we have a divided house. My free time is spent reading, walking, playing tennis, and snowmobiling. I am a huge fan of creatures who live in the 100-Acre Wood, especially Eeyore.
This is my 7th year at Traver but my 17th year of teaching Spanish. I really enjoy sharing my love of this language with my students. When students leave Traver to go to high school, they are more than ready for Spanish 2. Before Traver, I taught Spanish to students at St. Peter’s in East Troy, St. Pat’s of Elkhorn, and St. Joes in Waukesha. I never really thought I would ever teach something besides Spanish, but here I am at Traver also teaching Language Arts and Social Studies, and I LOVE teaching these two subjects, too, especially Social Studies. Social Studies doesn't have to be dry and boring filled with dead presidents and dates. My goal is to make it come alive for my students so that they'll love it as much as I do. Traver has been, by far, my favorite school at which to teach. The small school provides an atmosphere that you cannot find in a large school. The one-on-one attention and the feeling of family is difficult to replicate in a large-school setting. Our school's largest class has 17 students!! That's a number that is unheard of in public schools!! Traver's small numbers allows me and my fellow teachers to really provide for each student in our building. Our numbers are small, but our hearts and ideas are big. |
