My name is Sara Schultz. I grew up in the area and graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva. As a kindergartner, I decided I wanted to be a teacher (thanks, Mrs. Paavola)  and that was an idea I never grew out of!

I went to UW-Whitewater and earned my bachelor's in elementary education. I began working at Traver in 2013 as the 4th grade teacher and absolutely loved it. Then in 2017, there was the opportunity for me to make a change and become the librarian and technology director. It was a tough decision to leave the 4th grade classroom, but I could not pass up the chance to interact with ALL the students we have here at Traver.  So once again, I found myself enrolled in courses at UW-Whitewater to earn my library media license. Now I get to interact with all the grade levels we have at Traver--which means that during the second semester, in the span of 10 minutes, I go from working with our 4 year olds to teaching our 14 year olds and it is pretty fantastic.

I like to stay active and enjoy most things sports-related. Bicycling and running are my favorite fitness activities and basketball is my favorite sport.  I coach the girls’ basketball here at Traver as well as help out at Badger and with the Lake Geneva Youth program, which keeps me pretty busy during the winter months.

I like to refer to Traver as my “teaching home” because it took me a few years of substitute teaching and working in different schools before I found a place to begin my full time teaching career. The students and staff care and look after each other as though they are family, and I love being able to watch kids grow from 4k-8th grade. I, myself, have grown so much as an educator here and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
