Traver School and Mr. Zach Janssen are proud to announce that two eighth grade students have earned top scores in the Wisconsin Mathematics Council’s Middle School Math Contest.
Zander Zilly’s scores earned him a place in the Class C Individual All-State First Team.  Devon Frederick’s scores earned him a place in the Class C Individual All-State Second Team.
The written contest was held at Traver on March 4 and the results were sent into the contest organization.  Fifteen schools in the state participated.  “Class C” is the designation for the schools with 300 or less students.
     Congratulations, Zander and Devon!

The third graders had a small recorder recital recently.  The fifth and seventh graders showed off their guitar knowledge in recitals recently as well.  All performed very well!

Early in April, students in first through fifth grade do forensics presentations.  This teaches them the art of presenting a subject, demonstating something or interpreting a story in front of an audience.  The students work hard on this and it's always a fun competition!

Mr. Nottestad recently finished a square dancing unit with some of the classes.  Mr. N likes the square dancing unit because it teaches teamwork, helps practice good listening, and, as you will see, is just plain fun!

An Evening With the Arts

4/9/2013

During the last evening of February, Traver School held its inaugural arts festival.  All the students had artwork and sketchbooks on display, as well as art submissions for the anthology competition.  The theme of the anthology this year was “Make a Mark”.   In addition to artwork, the seventh graders presented a film festival, showcasing their technology projects.
Attendance was excellent and enthusiasm ran high.  It was a wonderful opportunity for students to experience what it is really like to have an audience see and appreciate their work.  This festive gathering will surely become an annual event in the deep of winter!
