Last week we did a Synonym Turkey project. Students were each given a word and had to look up synonyms of their word. We then put together our synonym turkey. Each feather of the turkeys have synonyms or "fancier" words that students can use when they are writing.

In honor of Thanksgiving, the first graders did some writing about what they are thankful for.
Then, they made cute turkeys to hold their written message for all the world to see! Recently, the 6th graders showed off their new musical skills by playing guitars in a small recital in the music room.
On Halloween, grades 1-4 took place in a pumpkin math day. During this all-day activity students worked with pumpkins to figure out their weight, circumference, diameter, number of seeds, number of lines, and finally they painted them. It was a great learning experience for our students!
Recently, the third, fourth, and fifth graders took a trip to visit our state's capitol in Madison. They had their picture taken with our district's State Senator Neal Kedzie.
In art the fourth grade has been working with recycled materials to create mobiles and structures to be outside. Their function is to frighten away animals without hurting them, so that fruit, flowers and veggies are left undisturbed. The class created some very fanciful ones this year. The artwork is now in and beneath one of Traver's trees.
